Bowling Bio:

I have been bowling on and off for almost 50 years.  I still remember my first bowling scores ever were 46-24-46.  No bumpers back then.  I bowled for my high school bowling team in Ohio, and also a junior traveling league at the same time, and won 1 local junior individual tournament, and was on the regional team representing our region (1 of 11 regions) at the state championship in 1977.  After high school, my time was spent more playing miniature golf (Putt-Putt, with the Professional Putters Association) than in bowling, but still bowled occasionally, but only a rare league.  Once my family began growing in the early 90's, I didn't bowl at all for about 14 years, other than at an occasional birthday party for one of my kids.  I finally came back to bowling in early 2004, when my wife was working part time at AMF Chandler, and the manager had a team that needed someone to finish out their season.  Having missed the entire reactive bowling ball era up to that point, I hadn't experienced the huge changes in the game.  I shot my first ever 700 series the 2nd week of that league using my Blue Hammer that I got in 1988, and I was hooked again.  I began working at the AMF McRay proshop in July of 2005, and have worked on and off in pro shops ever since, and have been with Virtue since April of 2013.

Get To Know Your Driller:

1.Favorite thing to do outside of bowling and why?

Golf, Professional Putting tournaments, and spending time with my family.  I have always gravitated to individual sports, because my successes and failures are entirely up to my own performance.

2. Favorite movie of all time and why?
I don't find too many movies that I don't like.  It just depends on my mood.  If I give my top 5 or 10 favorite movies of all time, it looks like a very eclectic and unusual list.  In that list, I would include Caddyshack and Monty Python and the Holy Grail for comedies, The Sound of Music, Gone With The Wind, Avatar, National Treasure, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile for dramas. Edge of Tomorrow is a more recent movie that may make that list. I can't really say why these stand out, but I have watched each several times, and will watch them all again at a moments notice.

3. Favorite bowling ball of all time and why?
Storm Paradigm.  I still use it as a go to ball when nothing else is working.  I bought a second one to try to duplicate the reaction, but the second one turned out completely different, even with a very similar layout.  I have been trying to find a ball that can duplicate it's reaction ever since.

4. Sports fan, favorite teams and why?
Professional sports - Cardinals and Browns, Indians and Diamondbacks.  Growing up in Ohio led me to the Ohio teams, and living here for 25 years has expanded my allegiances.  However, that doesn't extent to college teams.  My alma mater - The Ohio State University - will have my undying allegiance for life.

5. Your favorite thing about your job at Virtue and why?
It keeps me in touch with my friends in the bowling community.

6. If you had to describe your personality in one word, what would it be?
